DAVID JANDA HAD A SUCCESFUL SEASON AND HE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO AUSTRIA

The skiing season is coming to an end and it has been successful for David Janda, an 11-year-old member of Kilpi Racing Team. He dominated the overall ranking of the Krušnohorský pohárek (The Ore Mountains Cup) and he was within grasp of the overall second rank in the Head Cup, the most prestigious series in the pre-junior category, before the last race.
The final standings were decided on Stoh, a steep slope in Špindlerův Mlýn. The cards had been dealt quite clearly: Had David finished the slalom on a ranked place, he would have finished second overall. However, he hesitated at one of the gates and got off the track. All hope had been lost... he finally finished fifth.
“I feel pretty bad about it, but that's sport. You can’t go at half throttle only to be on the safe side in skiing,” reacted David, who will turn twelve in June. He finished second four times in the Head Cup, the most attended cup among pre-juniors which takes place in the Krkonoše Mountains. He also ranked first in the Prague Championships in Herlíkovice.“I was very glad, as I had won there the year before as well. All in all, I am happy about the season. There is a great Kidstrophy race in Austria still ahead of me. I finished third in ski cross there last year. I hope to achieve something similar this year,” believes Janda, who otherwise dominated the Krušnohorský pohárek (The Ore Mountains Cup), winning all the races that he took part in.“I am glad about that as there was fierce competition, too,” states the promising skier who has been testing a new Kilpi ski jacket in the season. He was very satisfied with it, just like with the whole Kilpi clothes collection.“I love not only the colours but also the way it protects me against wind. It was pretty windy at the races this year,” David admitted. He was also satisfied with his Sporten skis. He had switched to the Czech brand before the season and he intends to go on racing with it. “They are really excellent skis. I wonder how good I will be with them in the Junior category,” he anticipates. David is starting the junior cup with races taking place all over the Czech Republic next season.
He is looking forward to the summer, especially to bike trips. He is planning a very hard crossing of the Šumava Mountains with his team mates. In Kilpi jerseys, of course...
