RENAULT – KILPI 24 HOURS ON THE LYSÁ HORA MOUNTAIN
01. 02. 2019
The 8th year of the 24-hour running marathon "Renault – Kilpi 24 hours in the Lysá hora mountains" took place at the end of January. Over 1000 runners took part in this extreme winter run, where racers run an 11 km circuit with a 5000 metres elevation climb! The 24 hours of the race can be run by individuals as well as couples in a relay mode. The Kilpi Racing Team had numerous representatives in the race with both individuals and couples, including our ambassadors Michal Činčiala, Linda Tekeliová and Tomáš Zahálka.
This year, the runners experienced extreme conditions. At the top of the Lysá hora mountain, there were more than 2 metres of snow and therefore particularly running downhill was tough for the racers’ knees. At the startlist of the race, there were experienced Beskydy’s mountain/trail running stars, as well as runners who are not used to running in hilly terrain, “In the first lap, I ran at full throttle, my heart rate was at its max level. For us, road ultra runners used to flat terrain, this race was not a bed of roses at all, so to speak. Moreover, we were constantly pushed forward by Aneta and Monika from the Kilpi Racing Team,” describes our Kilpi ambassador Michal Činčiala, with details from the race track.
The organizers of the race did an excellent job and prepared the ground perfectly for all the runners in the Wood Arena, Hotel Sepetná and Sluníčko and, together with fans, they created a great atmosphere on the track. Also Kilpík, our reindeer, could not miss the race. He was all over the place, motivating the racers during the entire race. And they needed it because their exhaustion and tiredness were obvious. These feelings, though, were substituted by smiles and happiness in the Wood Arena right after the race and when awarding the best ones.
The fastest man on the track was Radek Chrobák (13 laps) and the fastest woman was Barbora Cichá (11 laps). Also, the Kilpi Racing Team got on the winners' podium several times. Aneta Nováková and Monika Gemalová (12 laps) were able to celebrate their victory in their category, as well as Linda Tekeliová (10 laps). Congratulations to all the winners. But we take our hats off to all the bold ones who participated in the race and wish them a quick recovery!
